Overview

This 5-day itinerary offers a perfect blend of cultural exploration, scenic beauty, and adventure, taking you from the vibrant city of Kathmandu to the serene lakeside town of Pokhara. Day 1 starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, followed by visits to iconic landmarks such as Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath Stupa, along with a relaxed evening in the bustling Thamel area. Day 2 takes you on a cultural journey through the Kathmandu Valley, visiting the historical cities of Patan and Bhaktapur, where you’ll explore temples, palaces, and traditional Newari culture. On Day 3, you’ll embark on a scenic 6-7 hour drive to Pokhara, enjoying the picturesque landscapes along the way before taking a leisurely boat ride on Phewa Lake. Day 4 is dedicated to adventure, with a sunrise trip to Sarangkot for stunning Himalayan views, followed by optional paragliding and visits to local attractions like Devi’s Fall and the International Mountain Museum. On Day 5, you’ll visit the World Peace Pagoda for panoramic views of Pokhara before heading back to Kathmandu for your return flight. This itinerary gives you the perfect balance of sightseeing, nature, and relaxation in two of Nepal’s most iconic destinations.

Itinerary

    • Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. After checking in, start your day by visiting the iconic Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with ancient temples, palaces, and courtyards. Key highlights include Hanuman Dhoka Palace and Kumari’s Temple. Next, head to Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) for panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley. In the evening, take a stroll through the bustling Thamel area, a popular district filled with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant and relax for the night.

    • Start your day with a visit to Patan, known for its rich architecture and historical significance. Explore Patan Durbar Square, home to Patan Museum, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple), and various beautiful temples. Then, head to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest and most sacred Tibetan Buddhist sites in Nepal. In the afternoon, drive to Bhaktapur, a medieval city famous for its well-preserved structures. Visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, including the 55-Window Palace, Vatsala Temple, and Pottery Square, where you can witness the traditional pottery-making process. End your day by enjoying a traditional Newari lunch in Bhaktapur before returning to Kathmandu.

    • After breakfast, begin your journey to Pokhara, a picturesque city located about 6-7 hours by car from Kathmandu. As you drive, enjoy the scenic views of the Trishuli River and the surrounding countryside, passing through small villages and lush landscapes. Upon arrival in Pokhara, check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing stroll along Phewa Lake, where you can take a boat ride to Tal Barahi Temple, situated on an island in the middle of the lake. Spend the evening enjoying dinner at a lakeside restaurant with views of the majestic Annapurna Range.

    • Wake up early for a sunrise view from Sarangkot, where you’ll witness the spectacular sight of the Annapurna Range, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri peaks glowing in the first light of day. For adventure seekers, there’s the option to go paragliding over Phewa Lake, offering unforgettable aerial views of the city and surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, visit Devi’s Fall and explore Gupteshwor Cave, where you’ll see the waterfall inside the cave. Continue to the International Mountain Museum to learn about Nepal’s mountaineering history and the region’s famous peaks. Spend the evening at Lakeside, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere, shopping, or dining at one of the many cafes.

    • Start the day with a visit to the World Peace Pagoda, located atop a hill overlooking Pokhara and Phewa Lake. From here, you’ll have panoramic views of the entire valley and surrounding mountain ranges. If you have time, head to Begnas Lake or Rupa Lake, which offer a quieter, more peaceful escape from the tourist crowds of Lakeside. After lunch, check out of your hotel and begin your drive back to Kathmandu. Depending on your return time, you can either transfer to your hotel in Kathmandu or head straight to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight.
